I've come to like dystopia themes. My favorite title that is closely related is "The Sound of Stars" by Alechia Dow, although there really isn't a lot of blood and guts through it. I first read that book in high-school, from the school library, so I suppose that makes sense. Anyways, what I mean by horrific is something also similar to "Downpour" by Christopher Hawkins, or "We Can Never Leave This Place" by Eric LaRocca, or "In Blood and Bone" by Elias Anderson. Something with monsters that challenges the stereotype of your typical monsters. What I mean by that is, not monsters as in your same, boring 8 eyed 4 legged beast that screams and tears shit up, I want something like in the last 3 books I mentioned, something different, and exciting, a monster that can't be contained. Or, a virus. A dystopia theme caused by a virus. I remember "Hell Followed With Us" by Andrew Joseph White being similar to something I want too. I loved that book, it was so good.
