there is no hope to be found within these pages. there is no light at the end of the tunnel. no happy ending was ever in store for osamu.
a 5 star book that i never want to read ever again.
[**A Short Stay in Hell** by Steven L. Peck](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13456414) will most definitely have you staring at the wall as an existential crisis begins to take hold and doesn’t let go.
dread-inducing, horrifying, thought-provoking. one of the best books i’ve ever read and it’s just over 100 pages.

I found *The House of Sand and Fog*, to be quite depressing. Well written, but sad.
