I just finished Summer Romance by Annabel Monaghan, and the fact that the main character met the guy on like page 5 and then you knew: Oh yeah, they'll totally end up together and then they did. It was a library book and apparently someone cried towards the end, as I could see the splotches where the teardrops had fallen. Perhaps I'm just old and cynical. But I'd like there to be more characters and a "will they, won't they" kind of situation. Think Pride and Prejudice, Me Before You and Villa Serena by Domenica de Rosa. Something where you're not quite sure they will. I also enjoyed the Midnight Library, even though it isn't quite a romance.
Though, now that I think about it, when I watched the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice when it came out in the 90s with my mother, I was SHOCKED when Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy ended up together. My mother, around my age at the time, saw it from a mile away. Perhaps it's me.
