Hello!
So I've been living outside the US for the past 15 years and I don't really get to connect with my mom that much. We talk once a week and I visit once a year but it's just not the same being gone for so long. I want to do something nice for her as she has always been such an amazing mother to me and my sister.
I plan to buy my mother a Kindle and pre-load years worth of books on it. I've already loaded my favorite books on there (Shogun, Devil in the Grove, Shantaram, Ender's Game) but I feel that my book preferences aren't going to be exactly what she wants. I want to add something that people of her generation, gender, background enjoy.
I'll describe her below and if any thing clicks for you please share some relevant recommendations.
My ma is..
From the Midwest
Approaching retirement age
Grew up outdoors, playing sports (played and coached junior olympic volleyball, played softball, very competitive)
Divorced but remarried, fell out of love with my dad , but still friends, and met my step dad online
Has lost both her parents due to medical complications and health issues
Loves people, talking to strangers, working retail, just being involved in the action of life
Worked in a family jewelery and antique store for 25+ years
Stays active, worksout etc
Was never a heavy reader until last year, where she read 24 books in 2024
I'm not sure if I'll get any hits on this, but I do appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance!
Keep the pages turning!
