To start I loved Project Hail Mary and think it is some of the best Audio narration I've listened to. I know it is a very popular but I am wondering if my girlfriend would like it. She usually reads Fantasy and Romance (Sarah J Maas is her favorite). I've read some of her recommendations and want to give her some of my own, I'm just trying to figure out what she would like. Are there any romance/fantasy readers or non-Sci-Fi fans on this sub who have enjoyed it? It gets a bit sciencey which I enjoy, but does that get boring for anyone?
Obviously I can just give it to her as an option, but I want to hear some other people's thoughts first. Thanks!

I liked The Martian. quite liked Artemis. Did not like PHM. The worst of the 3 and beats me why it’s so popular.
I liked it. I thought the audiobook was particularly good.
Yes, absolutely. PHM is best experienced (IMO) in audiobook form. I read romance, scifi and history, as well as contemporary stuff.
Tell her that in addition to being a sci fi story it is a story of friendship, that’s one of the things I think people like most about it.
Yes, I don’t read a lot of sci-fi and enjoyed it. Was easy to read and not too heavy.
I think even though there might be ~some~ scientific jargon in his books, Weir does a pretty good job of making the info palatable and his narratives are still relatively fast-paced, so that makes up for anything you might not fully understand
It’s a perfect book for her. Most fantasy readers like it because it’s an emotional read.
Yes I did
