Romance comedy with strong female lead but not set in modern period?

I truly enjoy Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen and The Theater by Maugham. The satire, the savage, the jokes are so delightful to me. The main female leads are just awesome.

Would love to read any book with similar style. I enjoy the “old English” style, seems to be very unique to me. Especially to see women that fell in love in a time when they had little right and power.
