i found a book with this fantastic concept, two mafia princesses fall in love, and they have to juggle the responsibilities of yknow mafia shit and the relationship. except when i went to try and read it 90% OF IT WAS SPICE.
for example, i’m trying to write a book right now, about a crew of pirates out in the pacific ocean, all trying to prove their worth as anything other than just criminals. the two female captains, Ducky and her wife, Amelia, decide to make an atlas of the world, all while trying to maintain financial responsibilities and keep their crew in line and comfortable.
if i could read anybody else writing on something close to that at all, i’d probably be able to break this writers block i have but everything is porn for some reason.
also, anybody else notice how in straight books, the relationship is almost never the focus of the story? like Chris in The Hate U Give, he’s a full character, with hobbies and interests. Starr and him are together, yes, but it’s not the focus of The Hate U Give. meanwhile i’m looking everywhere to see if i can find a book where a wlw relationship is present without being “spice.”
please help me.
