HOLY SHIT!!!! OH MY GODDDD!!!! The twist in the end just blew my mind away!!! A wildly unexpected reveal that fits perfectly with everything. What a story man!!! An insane ride of emotions, drama, suspense and thrill. I am a fan of this writer now. F.
If asked as to how much I loved it, I would say that I can read it once, and again, and again and again and again, forever and ever. As many times as I can. This is exactly the kind of stimulating psychological thriller that I always look for, but miss in movies and web series nowadays. What characters man!!!
What I loved the most about this is that it's actually a smartly written, passionate story. Alex Michalides didn't try to be clever or sound smart with words, he instead wrote a clever thriller that is accessible to everyone who knows English. Very detailed descriptions, logically thorough and consistent, perfectly paced and completely easy to follow. No wonder it's become such a huge hit and is about to be made into a Hollywood movie.
There's literally no one wrong in this story. Or right. Interpretations would be extremely vague, just as Alicia's "Alcestis" was. What I felt sad about is the fate that Alicia Berenson; our tragic heroine, met with. She was betrayed twice, by those whom she trusted the most. I will cherish this journey forever. God I feel like I am stuck in that world. Genius. 👏👏👏

I enjoyed the maidens as well! Great writing in both!
Thanks for the enthusiastic review. I look forward to reading this one.
I blearily read this as The English Patient, and was confused as to how anyone could be so excited about it.
I’ve been meaning to check out Michaelides’ for a while.
