I read a lot of classics and philosophy + recently got into fantasy. Issue with all of these is they require some kind of focus to read or, even listen too if it's an audio book. During class I am not allowed to have headphones in and my peers are quiet loud so I have a hard time concentrating. I want a book that's not too complex I can read. Some examples are "Earthlings" by Sayaka Murata + Convenience Store Woman, Notes of a Crocodile, and that's all I can think of that I've read that I didn't feel I needed to much focus to understand.
Lastly, in terms of genre I hate YA, + not a fan of romance. I like darker stories/depressing stories with "bad" characters (such as No Longer Human), I like a lot of moral ambiguity as well, and since I mentioned liking philosophy books I'm into nihilism, absurdism and things pertaining to that. So a simple book that manages to have any of these things I like is welcome.

Try *The Circus of Dr. Lao*. That might work!
You might like *Annihilation* even though it’s scifi horror, not fantasy. I have about 60 pages left of it myself. I’m reading it alongside a family member, so I’ve been pacing it out.
It’s an easy, quick read, around 200 pages. The main character really isn’t likeable. But it’s interesting seeing how she interprets and makes note of the world around her. There is some romance mentioned, but it’s pretty clinical.
The movie is great and is nothing like the book. So if you’ve seen the movie, the book itself isn’t spoiled.
