I’ve happened upon a new itch that needs scratched. I’ve been enjoying the political dealings subplots in some of the sci-fi I’ve been reading and I’m looking to find some more works in that same vein. Some examples of books and authors I’ve liked:
No spoilers.
-Red Rising series-by Pierce Brown-
I enjoyed reading how the effect of changing a political system becomes a problem for the characters to solve. Either by military force or deals made behind backs.
-The Suneater series-by Christopher Ruocchino-
It was interesting to see a character rise up from the bottom and reach incredible highs of the political system.Additionally, I actually enjoyed the slow burn and pace. The action felt a lot more intense to me.
-Player of Games-by Ian M. Banks-
I already enjoy the setting of the Culture series, but in this book specifically I thought the interaction between civilizations on different technology/culture levels was an idea I’d love to see more of.
I’m open to fantasy and sci-fi recommendations! Thanks.
