Does anyone have any recommendations for English language works on Haiti's history from independence up through the American Occupation?
I've read a few books about the revolution itself and a number more on the Duvalier dictatorship, Aristide's controversial presidencies etc, but I just started the recent biography of Henri Christophe, The First and Last King of Haiti, and it's making me realize how little I've read of post-revolutionary Haiti.
I have Laurent Dubois' Haiti: The Aftershocks of History and really enjoyed that, but as a 400 page overview of the country's history it understandably can't go into too much depth. And when I was looking through the endnotes, it looks like most of the modern secondary sources he was using were in French.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
