So two of my favorite books are Blood Meridian and Heart of Darkness. I’ve also read The Crossing (good but didn’t like as much) and NCFOM (loved) by McCarthy. I also read Lord Jim from Conrad which did little for me. What they have in common:
-
Mesmerizing writing. I can get lost in every sentence. I am completed immersed every time the Judge delivers a speech.
-
The in-depth explorations of the darkest depths of human nature.
-
No real sob stories. None of the main characters either book focuses on are good / decent people facing tragedies.
-
No romance or love interests.
Welcome any suggestions.
