I was never a big reader until I found memoirs. I realized that I have a hard time getting through Fiction because I know it’s all fluff.
The best books I’ve ever read are
I’m Glad My Mom Died, Half Broke Horses, Glass Castle, Educated, Escape, 10,000 Hours of Fear.
But I’m struggling to find my next read. I started “Know My Name” the other day, and I’m having a hard time getting through it. Not because of sexual assault but because I actually find it slow and disinteresting. Please don’t hate on me haha I think it’s amazing that she wrote this memoir and in no way do I want to downplay what she went through…but I’m crawling through the pages. I find it overly poetic, drowning in simile’s. I am not a book genius, so maybe it’s just going over my head. Or maybe it’s because I never knew about this trial (I’m in Canada) so I’m missing all of backstory? Anyway, I’m a bit disappointed because now I have to force myself through it…I’m obligated to finish it lol.
Any other suggestions??
