because your girl is bored. all i've read is fanfiction (AO3 till i die) and mostly stay within the vampire diaries TV universe and haven't really branched out and read like real ass books besides like twilight and harry potter and (yes the vampire diaries books still in the process of reading them) i just don't know what i should be reading and whats out there that gives me the same vibes not a fan of branching out too much but hopefully my mind will change. i want to read more this year and have 0 idea where to start. getting my Kindle next week so i want to bookmark a few read and the summary and hope i can find something i'm excited about.
besides it being vampires witches and wolfs i love Drama romance and fantasy somewhat. ALSO like a good murder/mystery too so don't be shy and recommending me those books too. Don't recommend Onyx Storm/the Empyrean series please i might like it but i've seen too much on tiktok for it to kinda give me the ick.

Witches – Tiffany Aching books by Terry Pratchett
Wolves – Dogsbody by Diana Wynne Jones
Have you read Anne Rice? Her Mayfair Witch series especially, but also Interview with a Vampire would fit what you’re looking for.
You might enjoy The Crowns of Nyxia series by Carrisa Broadbent
Ooh you might like The Garden of Beastly Delights series by Sierra Prynne – it’s a modern shifter fairytale that has vampires, witches, and wolves in it, lol.
I suggest the Parasol Protectorate series by Gail Carriger. I have to admit, I only read the first novel, Soulless (have to find time for the next novels). Anyway, I enjoyed it.
The Necromancer’s House, Those Across the River, The Lesser Dead and The Suicide Motor Club by Christopher Buehlman. All standalone novels. I’m not gonna tell you which is which lol but all the books have one of your requests in em
I’m just about to finish up the Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden. I’ve been loving it! It’s basically a Russian inspired fairytale with one of the best heroines I’ve ever read. There’s magic, magical creatures, vampires, a bit of romance, and an immersive setting. It’s perfect for winter.
Witch King by Martha Wells – I fell in love with her sci-fi series The Murderbot Diaries. Witch King was way different, but still completely awesome.
Ben Aaronovitch’s Rivers of London series. Combines post-modern fantasy with police procedural. If you like Jim Butcher’s Harry Dresden books, you’ll be blown away by these.
The Last Werewolf by Glen Duncan. World weary but still very romantic.
The Magicians, The Magician King, and The Magician’s Land by Lev Grossman. A touch of Harry Potter, a big glob of Narnia, and a big dose of Bret Ellis Easton. Smart kids learn magic and have to figure out what they’re going to do with all that power. The characters make life altering decisions that have big consequences that they have to come to terms with.
If you like urban fantasy romance, I have a few suggestions for graduating from YA.
The Women of the Otherworld series by Kelley Armstrong. The first book is called Bitten and it’s about a woman fighting her nature as a bitten werewolf, trying to live in the city away from her pack because of how she became a werewolf. When the pack is attacked, she gets pulled back in. The whole series branches off into a very rich world full of various supernatural types, but the lead perspective is always a woman. It’s one of my favorite series, and it’s a complete series of 13 books, plus some short story collections and two YA trilogies.
The Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs is great. It’s about a coyote shifter who was raised by werewolves. She can see ghosts and falls in love with a werewolf. It’s got a great magic system and a rich world, and the writing is fun to read. There’s also a sister series, Alpha and Omega, written in the same world with some crossovers. Both are ongoing series.
The Kate Daniels series is another complete series. Kate is a mercenary in a world that’s been deeply affected by “the shift” – the rise of magic destroying technology in the modern world. In this universe, magic and technology rise and fall in cycles. In the last 30 or so years, magic rose and brought tech down. Kate lives in Post-shift Atlanta, and in the first book she has to track down her mentors killer. Lots of were-creatures, magic, sword fights, and romance.
If you want to branch out into something totally different, try Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson. It’s a great trilogy about a young woman’s fight to save her world, with a unique magic system, great writing, and a story that’s nearly impossible to put down. If you enjoy it there’s an entire universe of books by Sanderson to get into.
anne rice. interview with the vampire
The Fred, the Vampire Accountant Series by Drew Hayes
Innkeeper Chronicles by Ilona Andrews. It’s got it all, romance, wolves, witches, vampires. And fun.
Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files about Chicago’s only professional wizard.
A Discovery of Witches (vamps, demons, witches)
Vamps – vampire school
Thriller type – try Lucey Foley or Lisa Jewell or Riley Sager
Nora Roberts has a few romance books that are also fantasy (no vamps but witches or faeries or magical worlds). I liked dragon heart legacy trilogy and chronicles of the one.
