It probably goes without saying, but I'm reading the Fleming novels now and plan to continue to the later Bond authors afterwards, so those are taking care of.
What I'm looking for are bombastic and baroque spy/espionage adventures with climaxes that get you so excited your heart could burst. I'm not looking for anything gritty or over realistic. It seems like whenever I search for suggestions on these stories, that's where the recommendations tend to veer. I like my villains to be scarred super genetic soldiers or eccentric billionaires with robotic limbs, not doddering old CIA directors or former Secretaries of Homeland Security. Between Jason Bourne and Austin Powers, I'd prefer something like the latter.
