Hi, I'm looking for good period romance suggestions for my book club for next month. We chose romance as the theme of the month for Saint Valentine's, but we want it to be as historically accurately as possible, hence early 1900s of before. Modern romance books tend to be immature in our perception, so we'd like it to be more profound and angsty, preferably. Star crossed lovers would be a great sub-theme.
Also, preferably to be under 400 pages, since some of us aren't super avid readers and find it challenging to read a longer book. Thank you!
