I’m a senior in high school. Back in like 7th grade, I used to be a massive bookworm (I finished a 200 page book in 2 days), but now I can barely read 15 pages in a sitting.
I’m currently reading the Hobbit as well as 1984. After Hobbit I plan to read Lord of the Rings. After LOTR I plan to read Blood Meridian (weird combo Ik but it’s all I got).
I’m willing to read basically anything that isn’t just pure smut. Please list your suggestions for books to read in the comments based on what little I’m able to give you about my taste lol. I’ve only got a couple books after my current ones lined up to read.

I highly recommend the Silmarillion. It’s the prequel and lore for the Hobbit and LOTR. It can get a bit confusing for the first couple chapters, but the family trees in the back are super helpful. It’s my favorite of all Tolkien’s books.
You might also like the Scholomance series by Naomi Novik. I got really attached to a couple of the characters and am working up courage to finish book three, but so far it’s been very well written with only one spicy scene.
If you like mystery books, I recommend the Father Brown series by G. K. Chesterton and the Lord Peter Wimsey series by Dorothy Sayers. They aren’t really conventional for the genre but will, for the most part, keep you guessing until the end.
If you like sci-fi, check out the Avalon series by Mindee Arnett or the Arc of a Scythe series by Neal Shusterman.
If you’re just looking for something light and very funny, I very much recommend The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.
I hope this helps!
