As stated in the title. Before covid id read pretty much anything I could get my hands on it and I loved it. Like at the pace where id finish a Percy Jackson book in 3-4 hours, probably around 100 books a year. But during my covid my brother passed away, and things got really busy. I didnt really have time to read anymore until recently, as I am 17 and exams are finally over. I am severely ADHD so its hard a book to hook me, but once it does I finish it in one sitting.

Here are some of the books I really enjoyed, so maybe I can gets recs based off of that.

    13 Reasons Why

    Perks of being a wallflower

    Song of Achilles

    Percy Jackson

    Keeper of the Lost Cities

    Divergent

Villians and Vengeful by E Schwab

Twilight Series (first was reading it ironically but I got hooked and the Volturi are really cool)

Anything superhero themed that subverts expectations is awesome.

Also ive been having trouble connecting with people so if theres a book (not a self help book an actual story) where someone learns to open up and accept other people into their lives please lmk!

    1. Reckoners series by Brandon Sanderson – superhero-ish (Mistborn is also a great series)

A Grim Reapers Guide to Catching a Killer (my recommendation for feeling out of touch)

      A Discovery of Witches

      Vamps: Fresh Blood -Arend

      Hunger Games

      Maze Runner

Note – I don’t remember any pets dying but maybe google it before starting any of these just in case.

    2. If you liked Perks Of Being A Wallflower I’d check out some of Kevin Wilson’s stuff. Now Is Not The Time To Panic and Nothing To See Here are both really good. They have that nice blend of humor and seriousness.

    3. Beware of Chicken- silly and sweet

      Anything written by Brandon Sanderson

The Lunar Chronicles- sci-fi retelling of classic fairytales

      Spinning Silver- perfect for winter

The Bear and the Nightingale- also perfect for winter

Howl’s Moving Castle- there’s nothing I don’t love about this book

Cradle by Will Wight- this is a really fun cultivator novel with interesting characters and great world building

There’s a short book that is part of the twilight world called the short second life of Bree Tanner.

The girl with all the gifts by MR Carey

      The Book thief

Probably not exactly what you were asking for but Sociopath: A Memoir by Patric Gagne was good
