Feeling pretty down. My advisor messed up my schedule and thus my plans to graduate in three years. Also, I am really broke rn.
Oddly enough, when I'm feeling down I always look for depressing books that relate to my experiences so I won't feel alone. I don't want a cheerful and light book. I'm looking for something depressing, existentialist and messed up with a sad ending. If anyone knows anything like that please recommend me smth.
I read every Camus book in uni and really liked him. I also liked Dostoyevsky's crime and punishment.
Thanks 🙂

A little life is ridiculously tragic
Don’t Let the Forest In
The red arrow by William brewer has a lot of accurate depictions of depression and self sabotage.
Blue Skinned Gods by SJ sindu puts the main character through trauma after trauma. He deals with violence and betrayal in his closest relationships. The characters ending is happier than the rest of the book, but he is thoroughly damaged and has issues understanding the world, showing that you can run away from your trauma physically but not mentally.
All these are pretty bleak. I’m sure you’ll get recommended The Road too, but I haven’t read that one.
