    1. The PG Wodehouse Jeeves books are pretty funny if you’re tuned into that sort of humor.
I second the Hitchhiker’s Guide suggestion too.

    2. “The guy who killed the guy who killed Lincoln” Jesse Joyce

Honestly hilarious, a little history and I laughed out loud a few times. Never had that happen with a book before.

That and Ms. Pats memoir “Rabbit” was sad at parts but her humor is laced through the book

Let Sleeping Vets Lie by James Herriot

      Blandings Castle by PG Wodehouse

      Made me genuinely laugh.

      So Many Good Answers!
+1 for Sedaris, Moore, Hiaasen, Ali Brosh (Hyperbole & a half – though I didn’t *love the sequel), Watterson, Wodehouse, Adams… all fine choices
Will add Jenny Lawson’s *Let’s Pretend This Never Happened*

I will always recommend Laurie Notaro’s books for laughing out loud (or for crying silently and try to breathe normally while you make clicking sounds in your throat so you don’t wake up your partner/kid/animals)! I have never read an author who writes so much like that one friend who always has the good stories, lol

Every single one of her [essay collections](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laurie_Notaro) that I’ve read has had me cracking up at some point!

BE AWARE, THOUGH—there are some very poignant pieces, as well as reflections/memorials. These are still very good, but you won’t be laughing. Luckily, if it’s something that you just can’t read for any reason, you can skip that essay without it impacting the rest of the stories!

I just finished Wizard of the Crow by Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o–it’s very deep, but also just so SO funny! There’s a lot to learn from it and a lot to think about, but the first time in a long time I have laughed out loud so often!

Made me think of both Confederacy of Dunces and One Hundred Years of Solitude…which is a weird combo…
