I've read a lot of books that I loved but I'm not a big re-reader. If I have time to read I'd prefer to cover some new ground. However, while I won't say it's the best book ever, The Disaster Artist is a book I go back to again and again. Re-reading it feels like re-watching the Office before bed, with a peculiar and sometimes offensive crazy boss managing a workplace and somehow makes it work. But what makes it even better though is that it's a true story, there were so many moments where I couldn't believe it was nonfiction.
I know there has to be other nonfiction that has that same "I can't believe it's not fiction" feel. But a lot of the suggests that I find for that swing a bit too dark or true crime-y for what I'm looking for. The Disaster Artist has some dark moments, but overall it's fairly light but still a crazy story. And the narrator/author does an amazing job on the audiobook impersonating Tommy Wiseau. I would just love to find a book that captures me in the same way.
Basically, I like true stories that feel out of control and crazy, and mostly focus on intriguing personalities who make crazy decisions rather than the super twisty/true crime-y story. Capote's Women was almost this for me, but I didn't love it as much.
I'm aware of Educated by Tara Westover and I'm Glad My Mom Died, but I'm not reading those right now due to certain triggering topics.

The Feather Thief! It’s a true crime book about a bizarre situation with someone robbing a bird exhibit at a museum. Highly recommend.
You also might enjoy Putting it Together, it’s a book about the drama-filled process behind creating the Broadway musical Sunday in the Park with George.
The Glass Castle might be exactly what you’re looking for.
