Hello! I am hoping to find some recommendations as well as suggestions when approaching a child, 6M, about human anatomy and consent in a kid friendly way.
And yes, I understand the concerns. He is safe and we are addressing these issues as fast as they have come up.
These issues started a few days ago. He learned basic anatomy in school and became curious. The issue is not the curiosity but rather the way in which he and his classmates have been handling it. There has been already two instances in which they have possibly asked and showed their privates to each other. Yes, it is a big issue and my family as a whole is trying to figure out the best way to address it.
We have already looked into a few therapists and we will begin to work on it within the next couple of days. But we are also hoping to find some small child friendly books to pair up with the therapy.
He wants to know about the human body and why some things are feeling different, but we are worried about what may or may not be appropriate for him and some of the books we have found online are centered around kids who are older.
Please, if you have any suggestions as far as a good, age appropriate, and hopefully inexpensive books let me know!
And no, he isn’t my kid, he is my nephew. I can only make suggestions but I have no active choice on his parenting and structural upbringing.
Thank you!!
