Hi all,
I've been on a sapphic binge this past while. A lot of the books I have been reading have been YA but I just started "Into the drowning deep" by Mira Grant.
I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for diverse representation to help me cross off some of my Storygraph challenge prompts as well 🙂
Here are some prompts I am looking for, but I enjoy reading any sapphic books with diverse representation (that is done well).
- Queer south Asian author
- By a Black author
- By a Latinx author
- Disability representation
- By an Indigenous author
I am open to any books that you enjoy (it doesn't have to follow the prompt). The only thing I don't want to read is smut or overly sexual content. If possible, please list what representation is present in the book :3
Thank you!

Into the Drowning Deep was alright, not much of a romance. Loved the sisters. Mermaids were freaky
1) *Priory of the Orange Tree* by Samantha Shannon does have a black (or mixed race) protagonist and she’s badass, *Day of Fallen Night* (the prequel) does have a romance between two oriental women
2) *Last Night at the Telegraph Club* by Malinda Lo pairs an asian FMC with a white girl. Deep thematic elements about the societal standing of asian americans in post WW2 California
3) *Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo* by Taylor Jenkins Reid has a latina FMC as the titular character
4) *Space between worlds* by Micaiah Johnson has a POC FMC and is an exploration of privilege in the midst of dystopia set in a Science Fiction setting
5) *The Luminous Dead* by Caitlin Starling has a mixed race FMC
You’d have better chances posting this on r/sapphicbooks or r/LesbianBookClub or r/wlwbooks
this might be a hot take because there is a bit of controversy surrounding this book/author, however after reading the book myself and truly seeing what people were making comments on i disagreed with the narrative being spread around but i encourage you to do your own research on this book because it was amazing and drew me in and i think you will enjoy it tho im not sure if it fits ur prompts. “The Ones We Burn” by Rebecca Mix was phenomenal and it’s an amazing example (to me) of sapphic fantasy representation without like it being made a huge deal if you understand me. like the romance and characters all flow so well and the bonds all feel so natural and read. the plot like kept me so on the edge of my seat, i could not put this book down. i urge you to look into it, listen to all the perspectives surrounding the book, go into it with caution but then decide your own opinions for yourself because it is worth reading imo!
