I know quite a lot of funny movies about depression (The Edge of Seventeen, The Skeleton Twins) but I’d like to read books with the same vibe. Comedies about depression, I find, are in their way feel-good fiction because they make you feel hopeful throughout that in the end, things will turn out okay, whatever okay means.

I only have one specific condition, though: I’ve encountered depression stories where the protagonist finds a romantic partner and there’s this unintentional implication that’s that all it takes for his life to be better. I don’t want any books like that, as I’m sure you’d agree that implication couldn’t be further from the truth.

    Thanks in advance!
