I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for books on mythology- (any cultures) that are kid friendly? We currently have: Rick Riordan’s Greek Gods and Greek Heroes, and Gods and Heroes by Korwin Briggs. Thanks for any recommendations you all have. ❤️

If you don’t mind a book with illustrations, you could check out d’Aulaires Book of Greek Myths. It’s a great overview of Greek mythology, it’s beautifully illustrated and is really well loved by many, I remember my grandma reading it to me as a kid and remember it being in the school library. The same authors also made books about other mythologies, such as Norse mythology, though I have not read their other books.

idk how old he is, but Eight Days of Luke by Diana Wynne Jones is a really neat take on the Norse legend of Siegfried and Brunnhilde. I had no idea of the myth when I read it, but I still had great fun detecting the various gods under 1970’s suburban disguise.

    3. Roger Lancelyn Green’s collections on Robin Hood, King Arthur, Ancient Egypt, Greek and Troy, etc

      Kevin Crossley-Holland: Norse Myths, Beowulf…

Rosemary Sutcliff has beautifully illustrated retellings of Homer called the Wanderings of Odysseus and Black Ships before Troy, which my children loved.

In an illustrated mode there are also the Orchard Book of Greek Myths, Roman Myths, Viking Stories etc.
