I've always struggled to maintain attention when reading mainly because if it didn't interest me I'd just glaze over it and not retain what was being read.
Even in school I'd opt for cliff notes vs reading the actual book and unfortunately, it worked. So well that the only books I've read cover to cover are Holes and To Kill A Mockingbird. This is all through college and a master's degree.
I want to love to read. But I struggle finding things I enjoy reading outside of comics. I recently moved 20 steps away from a public library and it feels so wrong to not take advantage of that bank of knowledge and entertainment that's so close.
Can y'all help?
Here are some of my interests.
– Non-slasher horror. Stephen king movies, paranormal, supernatural.
– Dystopian societies.
– Self help like yoga, meditation, positive thinking, etc…
– Anything around food. Like the Starve comic series.
– erotica……
– pandas
– anything about African Americans during the the time that immediately followed post slavery.
– I lean toward fiction for the most part.
What I don't like.
– anything super hero related. No DC no marvel or anything adjacent.
– Aristotle and anyone that writes like him.
– anything religious
