I have been in a reading slump and kinda down so nothing I read feels interesting or keeps my attention. I am looking for an action filled book that involves an interesting group of people working together. I love fantasy but I am pretty open to any genre except horror.

    books I like:
    Six of crows
    The secret history
    The lies of locke lamora

    1. *Nettle and Bone* by T. Kingfisher is a standalone fantasy novel, the main character is a convent raised princess who goes on a journey to save her family from a cruel king. along the way she gets companions like a bone dog a gravewitch, former knight and a fairy godmother. The book is fun and whimsical, the characters have distinct personalities and it’s an overall great read.

You could also try *Clockwork Boys* by T. Kingfisher, I haven’t read it but judging by the summary it’s similar to *Six of Crows* – a group of broken people go on a dangerous quest.

One of us is lying by Karen McManus has a group of people working to uncover a mystery (lots of interesting group dynamics). A little different from the ones you mentioned liking, but you might enjoy it!

Heavy Metal Forever by Jack Lawrence is more of a fast paced dark romantasy thriller with a cyberpunk flavor. Here’s the synopsis… ***WHILE ZOEY LOOKS AND SOUNDS LIKE AN ATTRACTIVE WOMAN IN HER TWENTIES, NOBODY KNOWS THAT SHE’S ACTUALLY A ROBOT FROM SPACE WHO WAS PROGRAMMED TO BE AN INTERGALACTIC AGENT FOR THE MYSTERIOUS FIGURE KNOWN ONLY AS THE MASK. HER NEXT MISSION IS TO BRING HIM A BOTTLE OF THE MOST DANGEROUS LIQUID EVER CREATED; THE SECRET SAUCE. FRUSTRATED FROM HER TOXIC BOND WITH THE MASK, ZOEY IS READY TO TAKE ACTION, BUT DISASTER IS IMMINENT WHEN SHE ENTERS A LOVE TRIANGLE WITH LULU, THE PARTY ANIMAL AND CHASE, THE MANIAC DAREDEVIL.***

It’s got 4.5 stars on amazon right now

    4. THEN WE CAME TO THE END by Joshua Ferris is a hilarious novel about the implosion of an ad agency in the late 1990s.

I’m recommending it because it has a unique storytelling device: it uses the first-person plural “we” to tell the story (“we did this, we went to this meeting, we went for drinks, etc.”)

You asked for an interesting group dynamic, and that’s what this device does, turn the entire group into the main character.
