Hi there, I’m interested in reading some historical accounts of western involvement in regional conflicts – especially NATOs intervention in Bosnia/Herzegovina, as well as Kosovo.

I’m also very interested in the US and Australian involvement in the Indonesian annexation of East Timor.

I’m particularly interested in post-Cold War era conflicts and how US/US allies inserted themselves into the situations. That said, I’d also be open to suggestions about periods prior to the Cold War, like the Banana Wars or the Barbary Wars.

I’ve read into bits and pieces of the (Post-) Cold War, mostly from Noam Chomsky with Failed States and the case examples of US client-states he provides in Manufacturing Consent.

I’d love to learn more. Even authors to try rather than individual books is fine. If you could possibly provide a leaning the book may possess that’d be doubly helpful. The less biased the better. I realize the example I gave of previous material I’ve read is well-biased to the critical side of the US, but I’m open to all viewpoints (unless they’re quite blatantly apologist or Anti-NATO). I can appreciate nuance. Thank you.
