Just finished inspector Imanishi and that wants me to read more cop novels. Can anyone suggest me some good novels on cops which are realistic and practical. Not superhero’s or anything like that. Just a regular cop who happens to be honest and intelligent and solves issues.

I’m not sure of every protagonist, but Joseph Wambaugh used to be the king of the cop novel, *The Onion Field, The Blue Knight, The New Centurions …* He once said, “If you want to be a writer, be a cop.” I suppose he was thinking of all the reports you have to write, the working out of the sequence of events, the eye for detail and the incredible stories. He also says, through the hero, in one of his books, “He finally realized that there was no good, there was no evil; there was only weakness.” (or words to that effect)
