By “dark” I mean the romance books that are popular right now. The books that romanize abuse and stuff like that (colleen hoover books to be specific.) I don’t want any dark stuff or anything with illegal stuff in it. (No offense to you if you like dark romance, I just don’t prefer it). i just want something cute.

I would prefer it to start out with the main characters being strangers or just friends, i want to see them get together. I also want to see them start a life together, have lots of experiences. This isn’t needed but I do like seeing couples grow and take bigger steps into their relationship. First kiss, dates, eventually getting married and having kids. Struggle, sadness, stress, and arguments are wanted here and there. And minimal spice/smut is fine. Tropes are also welcome!

I know this seems pretty specific but it isn’t all necessarily. As long as it’s cute, I’ll probably like it! But I would also really enjoy the other stuff i mentioned in there. Thanks for reading!

Beth O Leary books are pretty good. 2 people meet, like each other, some kind of misunderstanding happens, they split, get back together, live happily ever after.
There was another author that writes books set in South Africa that I really enjoy, I just can’t remember her name. There was one where the girl got a job and her and her boss get together. She has a lot of plants in her tiny apartment that get destroyed when someone robs her house. It’s revealed that the plants belonged to her mother who had passed away and the love interest ‘saves’ the plants. Cute book.
Does anyone know who I’m talking about?? I’d love to read more of her books!

Cute, sweet romances are a favorite of mine. If honest, I prefer British romance writers to American ones because they are less dark, more sweet, just pure enjoyment and coziness. Some of my favorite sweet romance series:

Literally anything by Jessica Redland. She has several series that are all just 10/10 for me in the sweet, cozy romance category. Series:
Whitsboro Bay Series (Making Wishes at Bayview is the first)
Hedgehog Hollow (Finding Love at Hedgehog Hollow is the first)
Escape to the Lakes (The Start of Something Wonderful is the first)
any of her other books or series.

Literally anything by Trisha Ashley – especially at Christmas. Some favorites:
One More Christmas at the Castle
      The Christmas Invitation
Little Tea Shop of Lost and Found
      Wedding Dress Repair Shop

      Kate Hewitt:
      Willoughby Close series

      Nicola May:
Corner Shop on Cockelberry Bay Series
      Ferry Lane Market Series

      Alison Sherlock:
      Railway Lane Series
      Riverside Lane Series

If you want some American contemporary romances that are sweet and light, I really love Emily Henry’s Book Lovers.

Susan Wiggs also has some great sweet romances. I really liked:
      Welcome to Beachtown
      The Lost and Found Bookshop
      Sugar and Salt
      Table for Five
      Bella Vista Chronicles Series
