I have recommended this indie book in the past, but I feel the need to post again because it covers topics that I feel hit hard with quite a lot of people. And the writing style, the characterizations, and world building deserve a lot of praise and a wider audience. It is set in a dystopian Pakistan (alas Pakistan feels like a dystopia currently already) and tackles the political, religious and social persecutions it brings forth. At the heart of the narrative is a love story and an exploration of the human condition. I highly recommend listening to the author's interview for his perspectives at the link below. The book heavily reflects his own personal life, which includes several kidnapping attempts in Pakistan.
