As per the title I've stopped reading books and would love to start again. Could you recommend a few life changing, true crime and thrillers that have the potential to reignite the love I once had for reading.

    1. “The Gift of Fear” (a very important read) by Gavin De Becker.

“Five days at Memorial: life and death in a storm-ravaged hospital” by Sherri Fink.

    2. The Sing Sing Files was life-changing true crime for me, and it is so readable – I couldn’t put it down, the author wrote in such a relatable style. It’s about a journalist who discovered that several innocent men were doing time in Sing Sing, but it’s also about the crimes they were accused of and who actually committed them.

*Killers of the Flower Moon* and *The* *Devil in the White City* for nonfiction. *The Alienist* by Caleb Carr for fiction.

The spy who came in from the cold by LeCarré. Very short, very good. He burned through the manuscript in a matter of a few months while his wife was dying. He was also in the employ of British intelligence, stationed in Berlin during the Cold war, which is the location and period in which the story takes place. When he was asked if he ever used real life events to inform his work, his reply was that if he had, he wouldn’t have been allowed to publish. I say this to speak to the realism of his writing. He also has some of the sharpest articulation and keenest eye for human nature I’ve ever read.
