I would also recommend: One Second After by William Forstchen – is kinda of a post apocalyptic book. Don’t want to spoil it but it’s has a ton of survivors elements to it. Btw it’s is book one of 5

The only one I ever read that fits this bill is Hatchet by Gary Paulson and I really loved it
