i'm interested in fantasy (liked "where the mountain meets the moon" but i feel its a children book and embarrassed about it), and sci-fi.
i really liked 1984 and animal farm but didn't complete them.
if you got any other books in other genres you really like, suggest them please.
the type of books i want are books that must be read, like if i ask any reader about the book he should have read it.
last note: please no books with complicated vocabulary, as english is not my first language.

Maze runner. Captains courageous. Kidnapped. Treasure Island.
Gonna get the obligatory Dungeon Crawler Carl suggestion out of the way early.
The Hobbit is an excellent one.
Tamora Pierce has a few good series, you can’t really go wrong with her.
Read Before She Speaks, a gripping short psychological thriller

Don’t be embarrassed about reading anything you like. I listened to Sabriel by Garth Nix in my mid 40s because I saw that Tim Curry reads it, and it wasn’t until the second book I realized it was a kids book- target audience doesn’t indicate quality!
Ender’s Game series!
