We've all read books about wars, Armageddon, death, destruction, and that one major conflict that changes everything. But almost all novels end after the conflict is resolved. What happens to our traumatized barely alive characters after?
For Robin Hobb fans, imagine the first few chapters of Fool's errand but we actually see Fitz heal, reconnect, embrace love instead of being pulled off into another adventure.
Tldr: books that showcase retired heros in fantasy who are healing from their troubles. I'm looking for something soft, intimate, but do not mind darkness.

Kings of the Wyld would fit. A bunch of old timers get together again for an adventure to save the daughter of one of the members. A lot of the book is spent talking about the good old days.
If you’re familiar with Joe Abercrombie’s “First Law Trilogy” he’s written other stories that feature characters from that series.
