What books have you read while dealing with grief? Looking for books specifically about death and grief, but also ones that would offer an escape and distraction. I feel like I need both.
When my mom died, I read **The Year of Magical Thinking** by Joan Didion. It’s a great book but also helped so much with the healing process.

Ryan’s Bed by Tijan gave me both immense comfort in relating/being seen when in the midst of my grief, while also providing a distraction as you try to piece things together.
The epilogue was both closure and also still open-ended in grief, which felt so true to life. She later published a little crossover novella, where we get to see the two main characters several years in the future for our final closure on her healing and recovery. ❤️🩹
Sending you lots of light and comfort.

“it lasts forever and then it’s over” and “a short stay in hell” both deal with loss & grief. i would also recommend “piranesi” for more of an escape
