I just finished up this book after needing to put it down for a few days. I knew the ending was coming, I expected the twist, and yet when it happened it was still totally heartbreaking. I'm wondering if her other books are as good? I also just wanting to discuss this book in general.
Why do you think she left off with the keys in his pocket at the end, when she could have given Alice a chance to live? I feel like that was basically cementing the fact that Rebel had in fact won, because if she was already bleeding out when she got to the car and realized she didn't have the keys, that was sealing her death. That kind of frustrated me. I wanted so badly for one thing to go right for him.
I had a feeling the woman in the house was his mother from the moment Alice said she wasn't close to her mom ever since her Dad died, and when she hesitated after he said how old he was, but wow. The extent that Rebel went through to get revenge on him for Lauralynn was so diabolical I didn't actually believe he was that smart.
I don't think I could regularly read books as depressing as this but wow it had me on the edge of my seat wanting to see how it would all play out in the end. This is now the 4th or 5th book I've read off a list I've made of "f*cked up horror books" , so if anyone ever wants to further discuss horror books, I'd love to do so!

That book was rough. I also predicted the twist but it was still just so fucked up. The whole thing. So sad. What else is on your list?
