My daughter is about to turn four. We fly through the normal picture books designed for her age. For the last few months she’s been really into the Magic Treehouse books, and recently she’s gotten into Zoey and Sassafras.

I know those books are out of her age range, but she’s into them. Big time.

Ideally these books won’t be for anyone older than the 6-8 age range (that’s what Z & S is meant for) and they’ll have some pictures. We’re not ready for books with no pictures yet. Magic Treehouse is for 5 year olds (I think?) and those are awesome.

There are also Disney classic books that are longer – like Pinocchio and Snow White – that have a couple paragraphs on each page but lots of pictures. Those are awesome. We found a Rainbow Fish book just like it. Any other books like those?

My only request is that you don’t recommend books that are chapter books and have no pics. We’ll get there, just not yet.

    Thanks in advance.

Have you tried any of the series published by Acorn, like Owl Diaries or Unicorn Diaries?

My similar aged daughter has really loved Charlotte’s Web, Stuart Little, The Trumpet of the Swan and Mr. Popper’s Penguins. Our versions haven’t had pictures on every page but at least every few pages.

    3. The Hamster Princess series and Danny Dragonbreath series by Ursula Vernon. Pictures on every page – they are almost comic books but not quite – and fun stories that have enough in-jokes to amuse parents as well.

oh boy, my sister was SUPER into the Rainbow Fairies books when she was like 6-8, maybe try those? They’re similar in age level to magic treehouse.

Captain Underpants was also a hit in my house, but if she’s not into potty humor yet no need to kick it off with those books.

Bink and Gollie are cute and have a lot of illustrations.

Mercy Watson is a great suggestion. A similar series is The Fabled Stables.

Look in to the scholastic branches series. There are a bunch of early chapter books, lots of pictures, similar level to Magic Tree House. There are so many, including Dragon Masters, Owl Diaries, Unicorn Diaries, The Last Firehawk, Pixie Tricks, etc.
