Instead of time traveling to the future, suggest me a book with time travel to the past. Specifically to Ancient Greece or to medieval ages. No outlander recommendations pls! Also would prefer it to be a standalone but I’ll take any series recommendations. Thanks!

Michael Crichton’s **Timeline** has a group of grad students go back to 14th century France to investigate a mystery while another group stays in the present to assist/protect them. Much of the story is set in the past, depicting the brutality of life back then.
Medieval times- The Doomsday Book by Connie Willis, time machines are used by historians for research, grad school girl goes to 1300s Oxford to do a thesis, on accident, she lands a couple weeks before the Plague and gets stuck there during it.
Ancient Greece – The Just City by Jo Walton has a bit of it, but it’s not really about that, it’s about Athena creating a model of Plato’s Republic, at the beginning she brings some smart people who are also Plato stans from all time periods to raise the kids that will actually be the Republic citizens, and there’s a victorian lady’s POV in some chapters, there’s also robots who do the manual jobs and Socrates shows up. It’s YA, has a very interesting world building which made the YA parts tolerable to me, I personally don’t like teen drama about relationships, rebel phases and low self-esteem.
Island in a Sea of Time – SM Stirling
The island of Nantucket and ships in the vicinity are transported back a couple of thousand years. They set about exploring the ancient world and defending themselves from some of their own who flee to Europe and Egypt areas to use their advanced knowledge and equipment to become rulers and tyrants.
