Hello! A friend and I are looking for a book to read together.
Our wish list:

light/low fantasy; fairy tale or mythology feeling, though doesn’t have to be those exactly. Like Moana or Encanto (her words are “otherworldly but not unordinary”)

romantic or with strong element of romance, but without being tropey

nice prose

Elements that make us not enjoy books:

love triangles

gushing over the hotness of romantic interest and similarly shallow romantic elements

heavy tropes

traditional romance plotline

We’re pretty open to whatever! We both enjoy Juliet Marillier but have been on the hunt for others we enjoy together. Neil Gaiman had been a possibility but we’ve nixed him. Terry Pratchett is one of my faves so we’ll probably be reading him together at some point. We also like to try to read a variety of things to try to expand our horizons. TIA!
