    Hey gang

I really enjoy the loving pastiche of 1700s lit in Thomas Pynchon’s Mason & Dixon, and reading that book opened my mind to a style the tickles my little brain so

I love the way that writers from this era worded things in such a way that make them feel novel, and new. They cared about putting on a show with what they wrote, and showing the audience things unfamiliar, and enriching.

I feel like they had the language to describe vague and odd internal & metaphysical happenings in a way that resonates with me. The way people write now doesn’t tickle me in the same way. I love so much new lit, but im in the mood for the oldies and their loquatious style

They were also so funny to me. I love the wordyness, and i love the long-way-round jokes.

Got any recs for 1700s novels that fit the bill?

Not looking for tom jones or tristram shandy

    Thanks
