I’ve been focusing on women’s literature that specifically centers a leftist understanding of socioeconomic class. So far, my reading has included texts by important figures in the early communist party like Alexandra Kollontai and Clara Zetkin, as well as American authors like Angela Davis (Women, Race, and Class). I’ve also read some work by contemporary feminist writers that isn’t necessarily communist theory, but is still largely informed by class consciousness, like books by bell hooks (Feminist Class Struggle, Ain’t I a Woman) and Mikki Kendall (Hood Feminism). I’m seeking nonfiction texts and theory that relate to both women’s liberation and the class struggle. Any decade, any country, essays and pamphlets or longer-form literature, all welcome.
