I've been in a bit of a reading slump, I've read a bunch of popular fantasy romance books (eg. ACOTAR, fourth wing, ash and blood), and while I can read them in a sitting, I feel like I'm reading young adult novels with smut, or they're too easy read without much thinking and can guess what is going to happen. Not opposed to spice if the book is written really well.
Looking for something that has beautiful writing and deep relationships or doesn't rely on tropes, or books that really pull on your heartstrings (not based around terminal illness)
The last few books I loved the writing of and might be helpful but don't fit this category include Piranesi – Susanna Clarke, Circe – Madeline miller, Murakami's books, A Little Life (if it didn't have so much gratuitous abuse).
Open to any genre! But I have always loved fantasy and magical realism. Thank you!!
