What books had a ton of little nuggets of fascinating information? (Even if it’s hardly related)

I'm reading a mountaineering book right now called "conquistadors of the useless", and I'm becoming rather engaged with ww2 France due to our story taking place there. Feels like I'm learning of the salt of the earth types back then. In general I'm looking for books that maybe had a bunch of new vocabulary words for you, or went off on lovely side tangents.
