Hi, I'm new to the dark academic book "genre" although I have already read Dorian Gray. Still, I haven't read any books under the "What the hell Richard" thing. So I've been meaning to ask what is a first starter book between the two. I have seen many reviews about how easy to understand Babel is, unlike TSH, though many people loved TSH more than Babel.
I need your thoughts, please. Thank you.

The Secret History is almost universally acknowledged as a classic, while Babel is a lot more divisive.
But, they’re also completely different genres (despite both being called Dark Academia). SH is literary realism, Babel is historical fantasy–so depending on your tastes and previous reading experience, that may effect which one you enjoy more.
