I’m looking for a book about how to enjoy the process of learning something and not be frustrated that you don’t know it yet.

For example, I love drawing, programming and music but the process of trying so hard to get better at these things frustrates me a lot to the point where I often don’t enjoy doing them

    1. You don’t need a book, you need therapy. This is not a snarky comment, I’m serious. I talk with my therapist about these things. One thing that may help is to think about why you are doing the thing you are doing. Are you trying to sell it? Are you trying for some external validation of the work? If the answer to these is no, then maybe you just need to remind yourself that you are simply doing the thing for fun, and not perfection. Doing something more and more and more will generally make you better at it. If you are pushing for some type of external validation, then you will create the pressure on yourself that saps the joy. If you are simply doing it because you enjoy it, try to be easy on yourself. Do the thing, finish it, then do it again or another similar thing. Do that for awhile and return to the earlier work, and you will probably find that you have improved even though you weren’t necessarily trying. Also, as a writer, I tend to struggle to finish things because I want it to be perfect, but I always do way better when I just try to get it done. Perfection is the enemy of good/great and finished. Good luck with your art.
