Hi guys, i just got back into reading december last year after barely reading throughout pretty much my entire schooling, and i'm enjoying it so much, but i haven't got a clue what i'd like to read next.
i find myself drawn to some queer themes (i remember reading the miseducation of cameron post a few years back), and also stories set in australia, but that also doesn't matter at all i'm open to literally anything.
So far, i've read normal people by sally rooney (which i didn't mind); down the drain by julia fox & i who have never known men by jaqueline harpman (which i loved); and invisible boys by holden sheppard (which i read within 30 hours). they were all pretty different so i'm not picky about genre or anything, just go off vibes or let me know something you've enjoyed in the past 😁
edit: OMG forgot to add – bonus points if reading it on the train would make me look cool and mysterious.

maybe try reading Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano – it’s sorta like normal people in the fact that it’s about the complexities of life and love
Querelle by Jean Genet. Checks r every box
The Safekeep by Yael van der Wouden is excellent and I can’t give anything away but it does have LGBTQ themes. Highly recommend and it was recently shortlisted for the Booker Prize. IMO you would look cool
**How to become the dark lord and die trying** by Django Wexler
**Hench** by Natalie Zina Walschots
**Heretical Fishing** by Haylock Jobson. author is from australia and it’s set in australia
and for queer characters and overall wholesome stories check out T. J. Klune
Gideon The Ninth, by Tamsyn Muir. “Lesbian necromancers IN SPACE!”
Weaveworld – Clive barker
Swan song – Robert Mccammon
White is for Witching by Helen Oyeyemi
Horror, lesbian themes, [cool cover](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6277227)
Chain gang all stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah. Some queer undertones, really well written, smart, and unique. I read it so quickly. Couldn’t put it down.
This isn’t necessarily up your alley, but everyone needs to read **Black Pill** by Elle Reeve ASAP. Just google it. It’s so important that every democracy-loving American read this right now.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid which is a historical fiction book that has queer themes! It’s my favorite book!
As for a movie rec, I’ve seen the Cameron Post movie so I would totally recommend But I’m a Cheerleader as it gives the same vibes!! Also the movie Boy Erased, which gives more melancholy vibes than the previous two—but all three movies are set in conversion camps so they have a common setting!
Sorrow and bliss. Trust me it’s so good. And I like several of the books you mentioned
