I'd like to read some political thrillers that don't involve spies such as books about people in the civil service being put in bad spots, revolutionaries being conspired against, politicians with dangerous rivals, etc.
I'd prefer these to be set in the real world or on the realistic side, and I'd love if some of them were in non-US settings/by non-US authors but I'm glad to read US thrillers, as well.
I'd even take some recommendations featuring small scale politics closed group politics, like Conclave.
