This has happened for the first time with me. I read The Great Gatsby and found it meh! I wondered what the big deal is, this seemed to me a simple , grandiose guilded age story. Then I saw the movie ( Di Caprio one) and the movie really added new angles to my perspective and helped me see the hidden depth in the book.
I read the book again and simply loved it this time…
for the first time ever, a movie has helped me understand literature better. Of course, the cast and director have done an excellent job. But I am still surprised how I missed the nuances and poetry hidden within The Great Gatsby and how the movie revealed them to me…
Have any of you ever had such an experience?

I read Gatsby only after the movie, maybe that’s why it was and remains meh for me.
On the topic – ASOIAF, I’ve read it back in the day, and only read the first book, I kinda liked it, but it was too complex for me. However, when I re-read it after watching the show, I loved it. What I thought was the reason – show helped me to cement down the vast cast of secondary characters, so when you read the book you are not overwhelmed with them.
