i am constantly on the hunt for books that actually feel realistic to the lived teenage experience as someone with serious mental health issues, and out of the hundreds of books ive read ive only found a couple. It also does not have to be strictly YA, or even focus on a teenager specifically, just a youngish person, (teens – twenties)
Books that arnt afraid to portray characters as unstable and just something i can feel seen in. extra points if its queer in some way!
These are the books ive found and love that have the vibe im looking for:
we are the ants,
the perks of being a wallflower,
ari & dante,
we are okay,
forgive me leonard peacock,
another first chance,
solitare,
radio silence,
what they always tell us
